Gary provides driving lessons in both Manual and Automatic cars and services the Beenleigh, Logan and Northern Gold Coast areas.
About Us
First Gear School of Driving is a newly established family business, headed on the road by Driving Instructor Gary and in the Admin office by his wife Belinda.
After a long career in the Maintenance industry Gary decided to begin a new career journey by merging his love for teaching, enjoyment of driving and passion for road safety, to establish his own drriving school, First Gear School of Driving.
Gary brings a huge amount of motivation and enthusiasm to the teaching arena, using the latest tools and techniques, allied to his professionalism gained from managerial positions, enables the students to relax, learn in a comfortable environment and enjoy the freedom of being on the road. He has attained the Cert IV in Transport & Logistics – Driving Tuition, and holds the Blue Card from the QLD Government, Working with Children Commission.
In December 2017, Gary attained the Australian Government “Keys 2 Drive” accreditation, and is now listed as an approved instructor to deliver this important and specialised lesson, which is free to eligible students.Please view the “Keys 2 Drive” website for more details on how to register for the free lesson
Behind the scenes, Gary’s wife Belinda is also part of the admin team to assist with any queries you may have. She has a wealth of knowledge in business administration and is also a Blue Card holder.

10 x lesson package- 1 hour lessons are typically 1 full hour on the road, followed by a 10-minute debrief and review. (70 minute lesson in total)

- 3, 5 & 10 hour packages paid in advance
- Lesson times are from 7.00am-6.00pm Monday to Sunday
- Lesson cater for pick up and drop off to the students requested locations (e.g. school / work to home)
- We welcome all learners, and new residents to QLD

Q. Do you teach both Manual and Auto?
A. Yes we do, great for license upgrades!
Q. What vehicles do you use?
A. We have a manual and automatic version of the Suzuki Swift GLX, an ideal beginners car due to its size, visibility, handling and easy control. Both are vehicles are fitted with Dual Controls
Q. Do the lesson times count towards the logbook?
A. Yes, the first 10 hours taken with us will count as 30 hours in your logbook.
Q. Are the Instructors qualified?
A. Yes, Gary is accredited with the Cert IV Certificate in Driving Tuition, and the QLD Government Blue Card for working with children, and of course a passion for teaching.
Q. What areas do you cover?
A. We happily cover Beenleigh and surrounding suburb’s, Logan area, and Northern Gold Coast. (Please enquire as we maybe able to assist outside these areas)
Q. What times and days can I book lessons?
A. We are available from 7.00am-6.00pm Monday to Sunday, lessons can be booked late to include Night Lessons.
Q. Do you offer discounted lessons?
A. Yes we do, all our multi lesson packages are at a reduced rate, and we have special introductory offers for school students and pensioners! (ask for details)
